Camper van and caravan heating systems

As a specialist for mobile home appliances, Truma also dominates the Intercaravaning.shop range of heaters – notably the Truma Combi heaters for larger caravans and camper vans, which heat both the living space and water. Campers generally prefer the gas-powered Truma Combi 4 and Truma Combi 6 as well as the Truma Combi 4 (E) and Truma Combi 6 (E) heaters, which can be used with gas or electricity, or even in mixed operation, thanks to their integrated heating elements.  Truma heaters have a heat output of 4000 or 6000 watts and heat the integrated 10 l water tank in parallel.  However, Truma Combi heaters are also available for diesel operation. All Truma Combi heaters feature optimum hot air distribution and low energy consumption. In addition, Truma Combi heaters heat up the water in their 10 l tanks in a short period of time.

For smaller camper vans, caravans and panel vans, we recommend the powerful, compact Truma VarioHeat gas heaters. The space-saving VarioHeat models achieve a nominal heat output of 1,300 and 2,800 watts respectively, while the VarioHeat Comfort even reaches 3,700 watts thanks to its additional ‘Level 3’ setting. These systems are also iNet-ready, meaning you can operate them via smartphone. An additional Truma VarioHeat E-Kit provides a further 1,800 watts of heat output and runs on both 12 volts and 230-volt mains power.

If you have installed or want to install a Truma S 3004 or Truma S 5004 heater in your caravan or camper van, you can push its performance even further by adding a Truma Ultraheat electric booster heater. The Truma Ultraheat has three output levels, 500 W, 1000 W and 2000 W, that feed hot air into the existing Truma S system or into the blower and the hot air pipes. While the Truma S is, a decades-old classic, is a gas-fired heating system, the Truma Ultraheat requires mains power.

Of course, at Intercaravaning.shop, you will also find additional products and spare parts to heat your camper van or caravan, such as igniters,

Radiant heaters and other heating alternatives for camping and outdoor fans

Especially for tents and awnings as well as vehicles where no heating system is available, radiant heaters such as the Buddy Heater by Mr. Heater are a practical alternative. Generally, gas-based tent and awning heaters are more powerful than electrically powered radiant heaters and therefore more popular. The Buddy Heater heater has a direct connection for 450 g propane and butane cartridges, but can also be connected with a hose to a larger propane or butane cylinder. The patented radiant gas heater has a comparatively high heat output of up to 2400 watts and can heat closed rooms up to 21 m² to room temperature.

Other non-system heaters are the considerably stronger, gas-powered floor or wall heaters at Intercaravaning.shop, including the Vulkana gas heater and the stainless steel SWH 4000 E heater. At an output of 3000 and 4000 watts, they consume 215 g/h and 280 g/h of gas and weigh 5.8 and 11 kg, respectively. As such, they are not intended for tents, but rather for camping cabins and cottages.

It is absolutely necessary to ensure proper ventilation when using gas camping heaters. Not only does it ensure that the hot air is distributed throughout the room; a lack of oxygen results in the escaping gas not being completely burnt off, which can lead to high concentrations of carbon monoxide.
