Butane and propane cylinders from CampingGaz, BBQ-Gas etc.

Whether in a camper van, caravan or tent – propane cylinders are the most popular gas dispensers used in camping, for heaters such as the Truma Heating Combi and to operate fridges and boilers. At Intercaravaning.shop you will also find butane cylinders from CampingGaz. When it comes to butane, it should be noted that the calorific values of using a CampingGaz butane cylinders hardly differ from those of conventional butane cylinders. At temperatures of less than 0.5 degrees, liquid butane is no longer in an gaseous state. However, some caravan and camper van owners require CampingGaz butane for their CampingGaz gas grills, gas stoves and gas lamps. Another reason to opt for butane is that the cylinders are lighter. Since butane needs less pressure, CampingGaz butane cylinders do not have to be as heavy, stable or robust.

Aluminium gas cylinders

In addition to the choice between propane and butane, there are also variations in the gas cylinders themselves. To save weight, aluminium gas cylinders have been available for a while – on the market and at Intercaravaning.shop. If they opt for propane, most campers will first buy one of the usual grey propane cylinders in the size appropriate for their camper van or caravan so that they can replace empty cylinders for full ones regardless of their location. These propane cylinders are made of thick steel because of their high pressure, and therefore have considerable weight. Aluminium gas cylinders, on the other hand, are up to 75% lighter, which can be quite significant for camper vans and caravans with a low payload. Aluminium cylinders can be filled with either propane or butane. You can do this yourself at the LPG filling stations of many Intercaravaning partners, leisure and DIY stores, but just like conventional grey cylinders, empty aluminium ones are accepted in exchange for pre-filled cylinders. Many camper van and caravan owners have also opted for built-in gas tanks or gas tank cylinders. The red gas tank bottle from Intercaravaning.shop has a filling volume of 23 l of LPG.  That means it will last much longer than the usual 5 kg or 11 kg propane cylinders.
