Homey comfort thanks to practical air mattresses and air beds

Air beds score points with their sleeping height and the resulting particularly high level of comfort. The air bed and guest bed “Double” from Wehnke for two people is 47 cm high and thus twice as thick as the high-end air bed Flow Airbed from Outwell. You can easily pump up the air mattress from Wehnke electrically using the integrated 230-volt pump. For the Flow Airbed, you need a pump; however, you are more independent and pumping is less time-consuming because the Flow is flatter. The inner wall of the Flow Airbed is also equipped with an airtight TPU coating so that it hardly loses any air during the days. The air bed manufacturer Colemann promises the same with its patented double-stop valve, which is guaranteed to keep air in the bed. Depending on where you use it, you should also keep the durability of the material in mind when choosing an air bed. Most air beds are made of really thick PVC, but additional flocking or an additional layer, like the velour surface of the Coleman Comfort Bed, can help make the bed less sensitive to puncturing and holes.

Thanks to their minimal weight of approx. 300 g, camping mats are still number 1 for hiking outdoor enthusiasts who carry their sleeping places with them. However, the considerably more comfortable self-inflating mats, like the Sleepin and Dreamcatcher from Outwell, are gaining ground. Air beds and guest beds like the Double from Wehnke and the Comfort Bed from Coleman have also found their own fan community, however, one among people who are looking for a comfortable additional bed for holiday life on camping grounds.

The advantage of self-inflating mats for outdoor use is revealed by their name: They suck in air of their own accord as soon as you unroll them and open the valve. The “smallest” self-inflating mat Sleepin is 183 × 51 cm and available in 3 cm and 5 cm thicknesses. The corresponding extra amount of air also increases the comfort of the self-inflating mats, which are still comparably light. The Dreamcatcher models from Outwell are slightly heavier, but they are even available in a thickness of 10 cm. Additionally, Dreamcatcher self-inflating mats are 195 cm long and have an innovative Air Flow Control valve (AFC), which makes it even easier to inflate and release air. Eurotrail also sells comfortable self-inflating mats on Intercaravaning.shop. Thanks to their ISO Camp thermotechnology, these mats also have good insulation values and thus providemaximum protection on hard or moist ground.
